The King’s Award for Enterprise

You may have seen us posting about The King’s Award for Enterprise recently, but what exactly is it? And why should you consider it in the future? As an award writing company, we have substantial experience of not only writing and compiling entries for this prestigious award but have also had clients achieve a win over the last few years.

“Lucinda was a great help with our entry, showcasing the key parts of our business story and guiding us to success on our first attempt.  She made the whole process smooth, despite how lengthy the application was and her expertise was second to none!”
Phil Burroughes, former Managing Director of Imagesound Group

What is The King’s Award for Enterprise?

The King’s Award for Enterprise, formally the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, is a prestigious award for UK businesses, approved by the British monarch. It is awarded for outstanding achievements within the fields of sustainable development, innovation, international trade, and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

The award is sectioned into the four categories mentioned above and after rigorous checks, successful applications are read and signed off by King Charles III himself.

• Sustainable Development: This category is for companies that are paving the way with their commitment to sustainable practices. It acknowledges businesses that are doing outstanding things for environmental, economic and social sustainability.
• Innovation: This category is for recognising businesses that are leading their industry through innovation and showcasing significant improvements with their products, services or processes.
• International Trade: This category is for companies that have demonstrated significantly high growth and success through trading internationally.
• Promoting Opportunity (Through Social Mobility): This category welcomes businesses that are advocates for social mobility through the development of workforce, community engagement and employment practices.

There are many benefits to entering and going on to win the King’s Award for Enterprise such as, national recognition, the rights to use the King’s award emblem within marketing and livery, and a substantial increase in the credibility of the business.

Typically, the awards ceremony is held at Buckingham Palace and winners receive not only a crystal trophy presented by one of The King’s Lord-Lieutenants, but also a Grant of Appointment (an official certificate), and an invitation to a Royal reception. This respected award is valid for five years.

“We engaged Lucinda at Pure Awards in July last year to help us with our application to the Kings Award for Enterprise. With only a few months to prepare this lengthy and detailed application, Lucinda quickly conducted a full interview with me to understand every part of the business in relation to the specific questions in the application. She then prepared a series of drafts which were fine tuned into some excellent copy. Having the expert help from Lucinda and the team at Pure Awards with this important application was invaluable as she not only prepared a brilliantly crafted nomination, but with her links to the Kings Award regional support committee, Lucinda was able to liaise on our behalf to ensure everything was as clear and detailed as possible. Lucinda’s knowledge in the area of awards, and her passion for the Kings Award in particular, and then in turn, for us at United Cast Bar, was outstanding and very much appreciated. I would highly recommend using the services of Pure Awards to any other businesses seeking recognition in future Kings Award applications.”
James Brand, Managing Director, United Cast Bar
