A Toast to Connection: Our First Ladies Summer Wine Tasting and Networking Event

On Monday 10th June we hosted our first ever event: Our Ladies Summer Wine Tasting!

It was a huge success, and we just want to thank everyone who attended.  The evening was full of great wine and food, networking and making new connections.

On the night, we hosted a raffle raising funds for Tough to Talk, a charity whose purpose is to break the silence and reduce male suicide. It’s their mission to ‘partner with organisations to help them meet the unique needs of their men, to break the stigma and to re-educate on the real issues that are pushing men beyond the brink.’

Whilst this was a ladies’ event, we were alarmed by the recent figures around male suicide and felt we could use this event to support Tough to Talk and help raise awareness of this tragic and devastating outcome.

Throughout the night, there were moments of reflection as we heard a powerful talk from Dawn Bates, publisher of the #ManUp book by charity founder and author Steve Whittle, and words from Steve himself.  We are so proud to have raised £261 in raffle and #ManUp books sales. This money will go straight to the charity Tough To Talk and cover all administrative costs for organising a suicide first aid course in male-centric communities who cannot afford this life-saving training.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the night what it was, including those who generously donated raffle prizes, Bottle & Thyme for providing the wonderful space and incredible food, and of course to Jane and Richard at Dronfield Wine World for their fantastic experience, hosting and knowledge of some fabulous wines.

This definitely was the first of many and we’re hoping to host more events in the future, so if you’d like to be the first to hear about them, connect with us on LinkedIn or sign up to our newsletter.
